FAQ's
How does Scan work?
While inside the course player as an admin, Scan will inject new UI elements that you will interact with. There are a set of scans for each type of lesson and a set of scans for the course in general. When you select a scan to run, we will analyze the information that is presented on the page and provide a recommendation and results. The results will indicate if we see any red or yellow flags. Each result will contain an explanation video from Thinkific Expert Rob Galvin to explain the results and also to offer more specific guidance.
Will my students see any of this?
No, only course and site admins will see the Scan interface and information while they are running on course preview mode.
How many times can I run the scans?
When running a scan, the lesson type and content will impact the result and recommendations that are shown. It is advised to run the scans on all courses and all lessons.
Does it work when the lessons and course are in draft mode?
Yes, we will analyze everything while it is in draft mode.
Do I have to run Scan on all of my lessons in all of my courses
You can run Scan on as many courses and lessons you wish. Many of the scans use the actual lesson and course details to give you a result and personalized recommendation. Some scans are unable to pull any detail from the page and will give you some general guidance on the topic. Over time you may see patterns in the recommendations and then can apply the concepts to all of your courses without actually running Scan on them.
Are the results different for each lesson and lesson type?
Yes. Each lesson type will contain a list of scans for that particular lesson type. The actual results of the scan will be impacted by the lesson content.
Why should I trust the results and advice from Scan?
Rob Galvin has been a Thinkific Expert since 2017. He has helped hundreds of clients 1-1 create successful course and site experiences. He is also the founder of SuperPowerUps that has over 1000 site owners using our tools. From this exposure, Rob has become an expert in course experience. His belief is that if you create a great experience, it will create happier students and in turn will create a healthier business that you enjoy running. Of course you can decide to ignore the device and use a trial and error approach for yourself. You can also decide to take bits an pieces as you see fit.
How do I turn off Scan?
You can either completely uninstall Scan to remove it entirely or you can keep it activated and then uncheck the automatic launching of the Lesson Type scans when lessons are changed.
